The full list of changes is in update 0.9.20.1, which was released on October 17, 2017 in World of Tanks.

Large-scale update of the first campaign of personal combat missions “Long-awaited reinforcements”

The essence of the changes

The visual and audio components of personal combat missions have been completely redesigned.
- Added completely new and unique rewards.
- The conditions of the tasks have been revised so that the main reward for the operation is always relevant for the player.
- Added order forms that will greatly facilitate the execution of personal combat missions.
- You can learn about changes in personal combat missions from a special video available directly in the game.

Interface and sound

All interfaces for personal combat missions have been redesigned:
1. Personal combat missions can now be entered through the “Campaigns” tab (under the “Battle!” button).
2. Added the “General Staff” screen with a map of all operations.
3. The operations screen has been completely redesigned - now it is a geographical map with tasks in the form of areas on it.
4. The campaign rewards screen has been completely redesigned:
4.1 Now the main reward - the car - is located in the center of the screen.
4.2 Operation statistics have been added: now you know how many credits you can still earn.

Added new music:
1. A special music track was recorded for personal combat missions.
2. Added interactive musical accompaniment: the more tasks completed within one branch, the more intense the music.

A new way to receive reward cars

Award lists have been removed - machine components have been introduced instead:

1. To receive a reward vehicle for an operation, you must collect all five components: hull, suspension, gun, power plant and radio.
2. Each component has its own branch of tasks in the operation:
2.1 Power plant - task branch for light tanks.
2.2 Chassis - task branch for medium tanks.
2.3 Hull (+ turret or wheelhouse) - task branch for heavy tanks.
2.4 Weapon - task branch for tank destroyers.
2.5 Radio station - task branch for self-propelled guns.
3. To receive the component, you must complete the final 15th task in the corresponding branch.

Order forms

Added a new entity “Order Forms”:
1. To earn an order form, you must complete any finishing task of any branch with honors.
2. Order forms can be included (that is, applied) to any tasks. Thus:
- The selected task will be automatically considered completed without distinction.
- You will receive a reward for the main conditions of the task.
- The spent order form will remain included in the task.
- The pledged order form does not disappear, but is temporarily frozen until you take it back.
3. To pick up the pledged order form and then use it again, you must complete the task in which it is embedded with honors.
4. The number of order forms required to be included in the tasks:
- For any task from 1st to 14th - 1 order form.
- In the 15th task - 4 order forms.

Order forms can be used to skip tasks that are difficult or uninteresting to you. Most importantly, you can place order forms in the final, 15th task in a branch, even if you have not yet completed the previous 14. Thus, you can instantly receive the missing fifth component of the machine, completing four branches of tasks with honors.

New rewards

1. Added a new reward - stripes:
1.1 In each operation you can earn two stripes:
- The II degree badge is issued simultaneously with the receipt of the award vehicle.
- The First Class badge is awarded for completing all 75 tasks of a specific operation with distinction.
1.2 For completing all tasks in all operations you will receive a special unique “Champion of the First Campaign” badge.
2. Added a new reward - camouflage schemes:
2.1 In each operation you can earn a set of three (summer, winter, desert) unique camouflage schemes:
- A set of three camouflage schemes for a reward vehicle is issued for completing all 75 missions of the operation.
- The same set of schemes is unlocked for use on all vehicles of the same nation as the award vehicle for completing all 75 Operation Objectives with Honors.

Changing task conditions

The objectives in each operation have been revised to increase the relevance of the main reward. For example, now all tasks from Operation StuG IV can be completed on Tier V vehicles, from Operation T28 Heavy Tank Concept - on Tier VII vehicles, and so on. However, the restrictions on participation have not changed. You can complete the tasks of any operation even on Tier X vehicles.

We also made the additional conditions in the final, 15th tasks of each branch more diverse. This is due to the fact that the additional reward for tasks that complete branches has become more valuable: now order forms are located there.

Note! If, according to the conditions of the task, you need, for example, to discover five vehicles in a battle, and you discovered seven, obviously, the task will be successful. This rule is valid for all numerical conditions.

Complete list of amended terms and conditions of the KB.

Bonuses and medals

From 9.20.1, when winning medals in the “Epic Achievements” and “Battle Hero” categories, the player will receive additional encouragement in the form of bonds. Please note: coupons will not be awarded for cumulative medals. The number of bonds is not final and may change.

Balancer improvements

Now the balancer additionally tries to balance each part of the team list (bottom-middle-top), taking into account the features and roles of vehicles within types: the Maus tank is opposed to the Maus, Type 5 Heavy or E 100, the T57 Heavy tank is opposed to the AMX 50B, and so on. However, in some situations, symmetrical balance across playing roles will not work. For example, if vehicles with different roles are in a platoon.

Sound

We have moved to the new version of Wwise 2017.1.1, which will expand the possibilities for further audio improvements.

Improvements for pitched battles

The following changes have been made to the “General Battle” battle type:

1. The message about victory or defeat in battle has changed.
Added a new type of battle victory or defeat message to make it easier for players to understand when and why a battle ended. The message has separate animations for winning, losing and drawing. Additional text shows why the fight ended. When a battle ends when a base is captured, the capture progress bar goes into a "locked" state shortly before a message appears to indicate that the outcome will not change.
This innovation has been applied to all random and ranked battles, as well as the general battle.
2. Updated tooltips for rewards, which describe various conditions for receiving them. In a standard, oncoming battle and assault, the conditions are the same, but in a general battle the requirements are higher.
3. Improved combat interface (HUD) in the general battle.
The background transparency of player list panels has been reduced to make the information easier to read against a light background (sky, water, etc.).
Boundary markings have been added to the top panel to improve perception.

Improvements for Training Ground mode

Changes:

Irrelevant options have been disabled in the context menus of vehicle upgrade windows, the research tree, and the vehicle carousel.
Rewards (credits and experience) for victories and defeats when completing the training ground have been balanced.
Rewards for completing the training ground are now displayed in the notification center.
Added a notification to players that they will not receive a reward when completing the training ground again.
The crew recruitment window has become more informative.

Corrections:

Fixed a bug where some interface elements were displayed incorrectly in color blind mode.
Fixed errors that occurred when saving and restoring settings (vehicle panel and sights) when the player entered the training range and exited this mode.
Fixed the rendering of some game hints (unmasking when shooting, the need to return to the capture circle).
Fixed a rare bug where the “Skip Tutorial” button was not displayed correctly.
The results of battles in the mode have been removed from the notification center.
Fixed display of the EULA license window when restarting the game client.
Descriptions of vehicle characteristics in training ground loading screens are now correct.
Fixed a bug due to which the music tracks of the battle, Hangar and the final video of the training ground overlapped each other.
Added reward descriptions to the victory screen.
Fixed bugs in bot behavior.
Fixed errors in displaying map boundaries.

Bugs that were present in the previous update but have not yet been fixed:
- When turning over a vehicle and then destroying it after 30 seconds, the player who performed the turnover does not count for destroying the enemy tank.
- The stealth parameter of vehicles with unique camouflage in the Garage is indicated without the camouflage bonus, but in fact the camouflage effect works.
- The recruiter’s Recruitment Point does not display the recruits and reservists he invited if the account was returned to the state on a date earlier than the recruits accepted his invitation.
- In some cases, when the cursor is quickly rotated around the tank, the camera may suddenly change position when viewed from the trajectory.

World of Tanks cannot be approached using the usual yardstick. Because no matter where the big guys headed by Viktor Kisly are located, no matter what citizenship they have now, the game is ours, Belarusian. And if a few years ago it was customary to be proud of this, today some kind of unhealthy skepticism is increasingly heard regarding Wargaming: the larger the company becomes, the more haters it has. It just so happens that you can't please everyone, and the online gaming community is toxic by default.

A little background

Two and a half years ago, Wargaming had a “Rubicon” - the worst update in World of Tanks, number 10.0, which they later decided to cancel and not release. The company was preparing for the launch for several months, planning a whole series of improvements, but as a result, viewers downvoted the announcement of the update on YouTube and Viktor Kisly had to personally appear on stage, who apologized for the unjustified expectations of the “tankers.” Under the loud name “Rubicon” (after all, you all understand the meaning of the expression “cross the Rubicon”?), developers and players saw a different product. And when the players’ expectations were not met, the reaction was clear.

For many gamers, it was “Rubicon” that became the point of farewell to the game. However, for Wargaming, perhaps this in-game scandal turned out to be a motivating kick for changes to version World of Tanks 1.0.

It is noteworthy that on the eve of the release of the patch, we talked with Daniil “Murazor” Parashchin, a popular YouTube blogger in those years and a completely constructive critic of Wargaming. He also said that the introduction of artillery was a game design mistake, changes are happening sluggishly, the balance needs to be corrected, many developers do not play their game, and some people left development when the project became successful and began to bring in a lot of money. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of asking Wargaming for comment and agreeing to provide them with a draft. After this, Daniil refused to publish, and after some time he was invited to join the company for a permanent job and moved from cool Lvov to warm Cyprus.

He is responsible for the redesigned artillery, which now not only causes damage, but also renders the target incapacitated for a good ten seconds. If before this the guns were toxic, then after the changes they became super toxic. Since then, Murazor no longer communicates with his subscribers on YouTube and has disappeared from the radar on other social networks.

But these are all lyrics, so that you roughly understand at what stage I abandoned World of Tanks, why I returned to them for a month and what I saw there.

Rubicon 2.0

World of Tanks 1.0 is the same “Rubicon” that was expected two and a half years ago. The only problem is that the name has already been tarnished and you can’t use it a second time. The game's graphics and sound have changed dramatically, the maps have been redesigned in HD quality, and some have received terrain rebalancing.

At the same time, the developers tried to optimize the new graphics engine as much as possible. On a machine that three years ago could be called pre-top (GTX 970 and i5-4690), the number of frames per second consistently exceeds a hundred at maximum picture quality settings. And even with streaming, this figure drops very slightly. Well, it certainly stays above 60 frames per second. But there is an extremely annoying point - regular freezes and freezes, the cause of which cannot be localized on your own. Does this interfere with the game? Certainly! Especially when you play fast medium and light tanks. And it is unclear why, so many days after the update was released, there is still no fix for the problem.

Judging by the reviews on the game's official forum, I was lucky. There, “tankers” report a significant drop in FPS, client crashes during the game, and long loading times before the battle. Of course, this is largely due to the old hardware, but some problems cannot yet be explained.

Okay, this is the technical part. And it seems to work well. I would especially like to note the efforts of the developers in terms of filling the cards with various small details. The artists who do this know a lot about their work. Particularly touching is any stream of melt water rushing into the bed of a larger river. Maps have become much more detailed, detailed, rich and realistic.

At first, when you get to the updated maps, you even get a little lost: the name seems to be familiar, but you just can’t recognize it from the outside. Only over time, driving around from point to point, do you find similarities with what was deposited in your head over 10,000 battles: here is a familiar hillock, here is a stone, only it looks different, here an extension has appeared in the form of the ruins of a castle.

It’s difficult to say anything more about the card yet. Too rarely does it come across randomly. We can only note that the center of the map looks unplayable due to two sleeves for tanks on the edges and bullet holes.

How do you play the new “tanks”?

Just like the old ones. In terms of gameplay, the game has not undergone any changes. It is still designed for a cheerful tank “standing” behind cover in fear of showing its nose out because of the artillery. The game still uses a mod that highlights the most dangerous targets to make it easier for artillery experts to focus together on one of them.

Swedish premium technology

Another nation appears in World of Tanks Console! The first Swedish premium vehicles will allow you to understand what to expect from the new vehicle branch, especially for tank destroyers Stark Strv S1. Take this vehicle onto the battlefield, go into siege mode and attack enemies - and then return to marching mode and continue the battle. The screenshots below demonstrate how Stark Strv S1 uses new playing styles.

Medium tank Strv m/42-57 also already in the game. On him An impressive weapon with a magazine loading system is installed, capable of sending the enemy to the Hangar with one magazine. The main thing is to find reliable shelter while reloading.

new german heavy tanks

At the top of the German technology branch are impressive machines. Instead of Maus after VK 45.02 a new one was placed Pz.Kpfw. VII- Tier X heavy tank. This very powerful vehicle with incredibly strong frontal armor is ideal not only for holding back a massive enemy onslaught, but also for breaking through their defenses.

What about Maus? Now it crowns the new branch of heavy tanks and follows two other newcomers: VK 100.01 P VIII level and Mäuschen Level IX. The VK's frontal armor is strong enough to withstand the onslaught of Tier X vehicle guns, but don't let your opponent attack you on the sides. And Mäuschen, which has a lot in common with Maus, although slow, will bring you an impressive bonus to experience.

If you have already researched Maus by the time the update is released, the required module packages VK 100.01 P and Mäuschen will be researched automatically.

New cards

The “Industrial Zone” is a real labyrinth of construction equipment and factory buildings. Be aware that this map provides a great advantage: enemy artillery shells can be dodged by using overhanging pipelines. You can also try out the new Redshire 1944 map, an alternate version of the original Redshire with an additional castle area.

Fight records

Had a fantastic battle and want to watch it again? Or would you like to record a video of an epic battle? You can now view your last five battles as game replays. In addition to this, you have the opportunity to pause the battle recording, start it again, rewind or change camera views. Rest assured: you won't miss a single tense moment of the battle!

You can view recordings of the last five battles starting from the current gaming session. They will be lost if you completely exit the game or close it.

How to view fight recordings

When the battle is over, look for the “View Battle Record” icon on the personal battle results screen. Use the left stick to highlight an option and press A/X to load the battle recording, or B/O to cancel loading and return to the last screen. If you are in a team or platoon training room, you will be asked to leave to continue downloading the battle recording.

You can also find battle records in the Journal menu. Highlight the battle you want to watch and press A/X to load.

To exit a battle recording that is playing, press the Menu/Options button to stop viewing and select Return to Hangar.

Fight recording management

Use the fight replay control panel to pause, play, fast forward or rewind 30 seconds, adjust playback speed, or skip to the beginning of the replay. Press Up on the D-pad to open the control panel and Down to close it.

Camera types

The default camera view is the combat vehicle camera, with a full dashboard and information that the player you are watching sees in battle. Use the triggers (LT/RT; L2/R2) to switch between players and the right stick to control the camera.

Free camera allows you to view the battlefield from different angles. If you get close to the tank, you can activate follow mode so that the camera follows the vehicle.

The positional camera focuses on the terrain - you can only change the direction in which you are looking.

If you need help with controls, press the Menu/Options button and select "Battle Recording Help."

You can download the new version of World of Tanks through the launcher or via a direct link on the official website. The Super Test will be available for download on September 14th and the first General Test will begin on September 21st.

Also update 9.20.1 will make such changes.

  • The mechanism for selecting equipment for creating battles will be reworked. VBR will recruit tanks in a new way.

Replacing FV215b with Super Conqueror

One of the main changes in the update will be the transfer of the Tier 10 British heavy tank FV215b to promotional tanks. Instead, Super Conqueror will appear at level 10 of the British heavy tank branch in World of Tanks 9.20.1. We told you about replacing the FV215b with the Super Conqueror in World of Tanks plans for 2017. As you can see, the plan has been implemented.

Procedure for replacing FV215b with Super Conqueror

Important information: If you already have the FV215b tank in your hangar, then during the release of update 9.20.1 you will have a Super Conqueror tank at level 10, which you will receive completely free of charge.

The crew of the FV215b tank will be dropped off at the barracks and prepared for the Super Conqueror. Camouflage, equipment, equipment, emblems, inscriptions and shells will be moved to the warehouse, where you can use them in the future. Below are the characteristics of the Super Conqueror tank.

Update 9.20.1 will be released on October 17 at 10:00 (Moscow time) and will contain a number of changes to vehicles from the UK, USA and China. In addition, we have seriously improved the balancing mechanism: now the equipment of assembled teams will be additionally redistributed based on its roles. Personal combat missions have also been significantly redesigned - from the interface to rewards and execution mechanics, aimed at overall improvement of perception. Awards in the “Epic Achievements” and “Battle Heroes” categories will now award bonds. Find all the details about the changes below.

Server unavailability

World of Tanks servers will be unavailable on October 17 from 3:00 to 10:00 (Moscow time) due to the release of the update. We kindly request you to refrain from making payments during the specified period of time.

The Clan Portal will also be unavailable during the update's release.

Premium account and compensation

Players who have a premium account or other temporary services (for example, camouflage) active at the time of the start of technical work will be compensated for a day of a premium account and/or a day of using services starting October 17 from 3:00 (Moscow time) in accordance with these rules. If you want to make in-game purchases, please wait until the servers start.

Technique rebalance

We will change the British tank destroyer FV4005 Stage II tree to make them more comfortable to play. Medium tanks from Tier VIII to X will have increased turret armor, which will emphasize their role as medium-range fire support vehicles. We've also made changes to the UK heavy tank tree starting at Tier VIII to provide consistent gameplay similar to the playstyle on Conqueror. The vacant place of the FV215b at Tier X will be taken by the new heavy tank Super Conqueror, and the FV215b will become a promotional vehicle.

In the update, Tier X light tanks will receive an increase in firepower, and US light tanks will be “shuffled” to provide a unique gameplay experience. Finally, we will significantly change the Chinese premium tanks, which have become obsolete over the years, to bring them up to date.

We have once again reviewed the combat parameters of the Super Conqueror, Conqueror, FV4005 Stage II, FV4004 Conway and FV4202 (P), taking into account your feedback during the general test. Detailed information about this can be found in the article on technology changes.

Personal combat missions

After analyzing your feedback, we have made significant adjustments to personal combat missions. Along with changes to the conditions that now correspond to the realities of the game, update 9.20.1 replaces reward sheets with order forms and components that will make the passage of the first campaign more flexible. We've also improved navigation by changing the interface for personal combat missions. We hope you appreciate it.

Bonuses and medals

If you have not yet reached level X, prefer to play on lower level vehicles and do it well, update 9.20.1 will give you additional motivation to demonstrate your talents in every battle. You will receive bonds for awards in the Epic Achievements and Battle Heroes categories. This new rule will only apply to rewards received after the release of Update 9.20.1.

Balancer improvements

Now heavy and medium tanks will no longer be distributed randomly between teams. The balancer will split tank destroyers, medium and heavy tanks into smaller subgroups (according to their role in battle) and try to create teams so that in each part of the list (top-middle-bottom) vehicles with the same game roles are evenly distributed. We have also satisfied some of your requests: improved the logic for collecting teams, increased the chance of getting into a general battle, etc.
